The above picture  is a head that I bought on Internet. It is a Vanessa Perrin from Fashion Royalty and the release is  ”Refinement”. She usually comes out with long blond hair. This head had no hair and no hilashes. The rest of the details were perfect, except a dark line on the top of the head, maybe made with a black or dark brown pen.

For a few days, I have been looking for ideas about the hair color and hair style that I would choose for her, along with the clothes that we would craft.  The outfit color would probably depend on the color of her new hair, or lips and makeup. I knew that I had a pair of nice stars as earrings and they were the same color as her lips.

I have a little crush on red hair, so this is the color that I ended up with as my final decision. We don’t ”rerout” hair in the head like they are done usually. We prefer to install them by layers, glued on the head. It looks more beautiful and we don’t see the holes were we see coming hair in small circular bunches, well alined in rows on the edges of the face. It looks like a carpet. a tooth brush or a broom. The technique that we use looks natural and a lot more realistic. I wanted also a kind of fluffy quiff over her forehead and long hair going down to the waist. My good friend Mimi has worked as a hair stylist when she was younger, so she made the hair up to my taste. I found the result very lovely. She made also hilashes that she installed on the little beauty.

As I didn’t have a body for my girl I used temporarily a body taken from a Barbie doll. I had already installed a golden finger ring and a bracelet on the right hand of this body but for now it is OK. It gives a good idea of what it will look like in the near future. I think that I will craft the rest of the jewelry all the same color as her lips and replace the golden ones by the new ones, or just painting them.

In my searches in the bunch of fabrics that we accumulated,  I ended up on a piece of material that matched the hair color perfectly. As a bonus, it had a kind of embossed tiny design as texture. It was not a perfectly flat piece of fabric. It was a kind of enhancement and was perfect for the small scale of the girl’s skirt. For the top I chose a black piece of fabric and the model of the outfit like a top if a bikini. My friend Mimi had the amazing idea to use a strip of cris-cross tiny pieces of leather on the right side of the skirt. The black leather grid would match the black bikini top.

She seems to say ”Come on everybody, clap your hands!”

Months after that the work had been  done on this figurine and the fact that it has been posted a while ago on this blog, I was looking in a bag of dolls and I found the original head used as a donor for the orange-red hair color that I had chosen for my beauty. The doll had huge ugly eyes and a head that looked like a ball, nothing to compare to the beautiful face of this stunning Vanessa.

Here is a picture of this doll head as a reference. I do not know the name of the maker nor the name of the doll.  On the other hand, I loved the hair color I just took this new picture a few minutes ago.
