Graphic Art on business card

One of my passions is graphic art, as I said sometimes in some of my other pages previously posted on this blog. I like particularly the vintage graphic arts, the art deco and other ancient graphic styles. I love also the architecture of vintage billboards, or the big signs on posts of the good old time with their graphic styles and neon tubes, flashing lines of light bulbs and flood lights in the dark. I like the graphics that they were printing on the Arborite panels on kitchen counters or tables in the 50s and ’60. The old advertisings of this era, vintage logos and so on. I love also as you probably know, to create my own graphics on decals for my vintage race cars or haulers and other stuff. I spend time in my computer to create original drawings and letterings or fonts using a vector graphic software. I have files of numerous graphics of all kinds in my computer.
I am a fanatic about documentation, researches of pictures and drawings for inspiration or modifications.

A friend had a business card and he had given most of them to potential customers and the box was near empty. I didn’t like his card too much because it didn’t have style and didn’t catch the eyes, so I managed to craft a new one for him. I wanted to give him a hand and help him a bit in his business because he encounters hardships month after month and he fight hard to try to make his business survive. Sad because he works hard and he works very, very good. His job is very physical, he is bent all day long polishing with a machine, wiping and rubbing stuffs with his hands, making circular movements and many times he applies pressure on the clothes to help the liquid to penetrate and remove persistent spots on a surface of a car. He has his feet in the water or wet floors all day long and after a day of work his arms, shoulders and back soar. He really works hard for his money, reminding me the old popular tune of Donna Summer, titled “SHE WORKS HARD FOR THE MONEY”. Here is the YouTube for the tune:

As I love car racing I managed to install a race flag as part of his new logo. Good because he performs jobs on a lot of sport cars. The slogan, he had already and it was very appropriate for what he’s doing, so I put it back on the new card.

Here is the thing that I crafted for him. Nothing fantastic, no glitter, no gloss, nothing too elaborate just nice, not very expensive to have it printed in a specialized shop.

What you see here on this page has been transformed into pixels as it is a picture (print screen) of the card so it looses some quality but nevertheless it gives a very good idea of what the real thing is when you have it right under your eyes. On the right, we see the back of the card as it is printed on both sides. It is the first time that I craft a business card for somebody.

Funny, I just got the idea to use the logo that I crafted with his business name and the slogan and put it on one of my miniature race cars. At the same time I will make some advertising for a real business and for a good guy, a hard worker.
